About Us
Your Mental Health Recovery
Safe Harbor’s goal is to increase the level of self-esteem, independence, and quality of life for those who have experienced any type of behavioral health or substance use issue.
Safe Harbor Peer Support Services receives support from the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, and strives to raise awareness of and combat the stigma around mental health and addiction.
The Safe Harbor community is made up of peers who welcome all and understand their struggles because they have walked in their shoes. With peer support, those with similar experiences:
Create a bond that supports learning together
Share new ideas and ways of being
Break away from the limitations of stigmas
Our Mission
Safe Harbor’s mission is to be a beacon of hope to people who walk through our doors and to provide a safe place to cultivate relationships, reduce stigmas, and promote recovery in order to thrive in the community. We do this at no cost to adults in Delaware and Morrow Counties through an array of innovative wellness programs offered at two peer support centers.
Our Values
In supporting individuals on the path of recovery, Safe Harbor upholds these values:
The power and effectiveness of peer support
Honest and open communication
Mutual respect and dignity
Personal growth and recovery at one’s own pace
Encouragement of different thoughts and opinions
Honoring each individual’s unique path to recovery
Unconditional hope, which gives peers the determination and self-confidence that empowers them to reach their goals.
Our Vision
Safe Harbor’s vision is for Delaware and Morrow County adults striving to maintain mental health and substance use disorder recovery to:
Live full, happy, productive lives
Recover more quickly from setbacks and have hope for the future
Live as independently as possible
Feel connected to other people
Freely express themselves and be understood by others
We further envision that they have easy access to the treatment and support services they need to achieve this and to grow in resiliency.

Board of Directors
Being a peer-driven organization, we strive to have a majority of positions on our Board held by those we serve.
An additional benefit is that it encourages peer involvement in organizational decisions and helps build confidence and self-esteem which, in turn, aids in recovery.
Our board meetings are open to the public and held on the third Monday of every month at 3:00 pm. For the meeting location, call our office at 740-363-1619.
